CURRENT NEWS:
12/4/98: Neo-Mame released yesterday (nm3468a), this is a version that only plays neo-geo rom sets, I havn't tried it yet but I'm guessing it means you don't have to have the neo-geo system bios in each roms directory.
OLD NEWS:
Mame 0.34b8 released, this is a great emulator which runs Neo-Geo game roms with sound along with several hundred other games. The Pentium, AMD, Windows versions ect, have also been posted at www.davesclassics.com
THIS WEEKS FEATURE AND REVIEW:
M72 M72 is a great arcade emulator which emulates IREM'S M72 arcade system boards. Very clean grafics and great sound, I have played some of the same games on other emulators but this one is better than the others. M72 needs a fast prosseser to run (166+) and only plays 12 games, although it will play more in the next release.
Currently Emulated games are:
Battle Chopper, Dragon Breed, Gallop, Hammerin" Harry, Image Fight, Legend of Hero Tonma, Mr. Heli, Ninja Spirit, R-type (JAP and US) R-Type 2, and X-Multiply. Check out http://www.retrogames.com/m72.html for everything you will need.
I give this emulator a 10.
Next weeks review Magic Engine 0.9 (Turbografixs emulator).

OTHER ISSUES:
#1: For some of these sites (like www.classicgaming.com) you will need a download manager, I suggest "GETRIGHT". This will allow you to "hammer" the site untill you get what you want. I also suggest "DISPLAY DOCTOR" which will fix you up if you don't allready have a great vidio card. "GETRIGHT" and "DISPLAY DOCTOR" can be gotten from www.download.com as well as most utilitys, drivers, and hundreds of game demos.
#2: When searching for new emulation sites the search engine really does matter, I find that www.altavista.com works the best for me. Try using Altavista to search in other countrys, many of the hard to find euoropian titles not released in america can be found there. I have found them in German, Portuguese, Spanish, and Italian.
#3: Things you will see here in the near future: SOON TO HAVE ROMS --- I soon will be puting up homebrew and public domain rom sets. I will also be putting up emulators in the near future.
WARNING!!!! Game roms are for backup purposes only and
subject to copyright laws. If you download them from someones
siteyou must either own the original cartridge or delete them
within 24 hours. You never know when the game police are hinding
in the bushes.
E-mail me with anything that comes to mind.
